Donut

"A donut a day, keeps your frowns away."
Quoted from dearest Jie.

I had 3 donuts today. Will it keep my frowns away 3 times? Hee...

The donuts here are delicious! Yummie Yummie... They are made on the spot upon ordering and piping hot when served. I simply love them!

The Earthworm Story

Little earthworms live under the ground, deep in the soil. Earthworms with Britain citizenship is especially gigantic and enormous. This is probably due to them living in a highly developed country. Like their species anywhere in the world, British earthworms like to move up to the ground for some sight-seeing and a little stroll when they are bored. However, this trip entails great amount of danger. The gigantic beings stomping around the surface of the ground might stamped the earthworms flat at any time. So it all ends with some big and fat but flat earthworms.

Silly, i know. End of story.

My point is that there are so many big and fat earthworms along my usual garden path to school. And more importantly, they are usually flat or dead. Sad earthworms. Hai...

London Trip

Went to London on Sat and it was really beautiful! The castles, churches and monuments are really nice! I love London very much, but too bad it's only a day trip and there's not much time to waste at each attraction. In addition to the sight-seeing, it was a shopping paradise! There are so many things to buy there and I can really take days to finish shopping!

Anyway enough of crap.. Here are the photos. Hehee...

Oh one more thing, the Chinatown in London is great! There are so many Chinese restaurants and supermarkets.. Over in my town, it’s only a pathetic few.

One of the weekends in future, I will go down to London again and finish all the sight-seeing that I’ve missed on Sat. =P

Nottingham Trip

Pardon my retard posting of one week. Here are my Nottingham trip photos. We went to Robin Hood Nottingham Castle and the Art Gallery (it's beautiful!), and to St Peter's Church, lastly to the annual Goose Fair. Had a great time sight-seeing plus my daily dosage of shopping at the town. Hee.. but very very tiring after the whole day of walking and walking non-stop, only stopped over at Mac to eat our lunch.

Arrival at the place:

At the WaterFront Place of Nottingham. Looks like a deliberate post, but I don't even know when this is taken..

At the entrance of the Robin Hood Nottingham Castle, with the statue.

I like this photo.. with nothing but the castle wall. Haha..

Nottingham Castle......

At the Goose Fair...

I wanted to post more! But the internet connection isn't working well tonight... Arrgghh.. It's taking toooo loooong......

First day of school

Went for my first lecture yesterday. Nothing interesting happen. In fact, it was boring. Went school, went to lecture hall, listen to lecturer, copy notes, end of lecture, went home. How interesting can this be??

Wanted to write sth yesterday, but when I reach home, I realised I was blushing on my cheeks! Wonder what happen and why I am so hot suddenly. Stupid me! I had a fever! Hai.. Sick sick sick.. Why does the weather here likes to make pple sick? Let me explain.. Morning it was freezing cold when I wake up. I got to wear 3 layers of clothes. Afternoon it was hot and sunny so I went out for a walk. Then in less than 5 min, a dark cloud came by and flood the town with showers. Though I had an umbrella, I was still drenched. When I got back into the shelter, the rain stopped. The sun came out and I saw the first rainbow in UK! Hee this is the only consoling thing I guess.

So I slept 13 hours after my heavy dosage of paracetamol.

The New Place

Enough details of my 24hr-journey to my new hm.
Now let me tell you how this place looks like. It is totally different from what you see in SG!

The Houses: Over here, houses are short (mostly 3 storeys with attic), with brown bricks, cottage windows and nice garden in front of each house. There are lots of churches here and the place looks like what we see in our childhood storybooks. My new hm is situated on the top floor of one brown tiled house. Above my bed, there are 3 windows where I can directly look at the sky. Sounds like a penthouse? Well, we have everything equipped in our small studio flat, a small kitchenette, bed, cupboard, study table, shoe rack, toilets, etc. Though it was smaller than what I would like it to be, it is still a cosy little place to stay in.

The People: The people here speak with a British accent, and you have to speak like them for them to understand you. On the roads, you can see a variety of people.. ang mohs, chinese and a few blacks. The people are very friendly and the ang mohs will smile at you and say hi!

My school: My school looks totally different from NTU. The buildings are short houses with only one tall tower at one corner of the school. The school is made up of small little buildings in various colours, eg. brown, orange, white... Not like the monotonous greyish buildings you see in NTU.

The Toilets: I must comment that their toilets are very clean indeed! Even the public toilets in the market place is sparkling clean. Not like those we see in SG's kopitiam or market at all!

The Prices: Almost everything is more expensive here compared to SG except for Frozan Pizzas. Pizzas are available for only S$3... rather cheap! Oh one more thing that is cheaper here is winter wear. In my half an hour spree yesterday, I bought a cool black jacket and two long sleeve top which cost me 21pounds. Cheap? Still reasonable I think. Anyway sad to say, the clothes here are too big for me! And the adult section looks more like the L and XL section. I have to shop in the kids section and I can wear the ten year old size! Though it feels a little paiseh to be buying the kids clothes, I got used to it after a while. Since it's cheaper, why not?? Hahaa...

My 24-hr Journey to my new hm in UK

23:59 (SG) --> 6:00 (UK)
The flight was looong. 13 hours in the air. Luckily with my small toddly size, I manage to lie flat comfortably on 3 seats to sleep.

6:00 --> 8:00
And finally the flight landed. The custom was slow as the queue was terribly long. One phenomenon was interesting. There were 3 queues:
(1) UK residents.. there was no queue, only a few whites went in.
(2) UK visa holders.. it was a long long queue with a variety of people - chinese, japanese, whites......
(3) All others... it was also a long long queue but with only blacks.

8:00 --> 9:00
After the long flight and long custom, I arrived at terminal 4 of Heathrow airport. Sadly, I still have to travel to terminal 3 to wait for my school coach. The journey to T3 is equally bad. With our super heavy luggage, we walked a long way to the train station at T4 to hop on the tube to travel to T3. And the train ride was long too.

9:00 --> 14:00
At T3, it was waiting, waiting and more waiting. First, we got to report to the school's personnel to take attendance, next we have to wait for the coach to arrive. The coach was supposed to leave at 11:00, but in the end, it was delayed till 14:00. Inefficient. It was annoying to witness the inefficiency and "taking their own sweet time" attitude when we had already waited so long and getting so so tired. Now I finally understand why are the ang mohs so patient and well-mannered. Because they have been trained to wait and tolerate this inefficiency and we in SG cannot stand!

14:00 --> 18:00
The coach ride was 2.5 hours. Along the way, we see nothing except for big patches of grassland, cows, sheeps and small cottages. I thought I was in UK, but it looks like NZ! Hahaa.. Anyway apart from the scenic view, the coach ride was a terrible experience. Somehow, I wonder how the ang mohs are thinking. The coach driver didn't seem to know where he should go to let us alight. No planning was done to the route the coach has to take. And it was stopping over and asking the school's personnel all the while. My hall was supposed to be the nearest and first to reach, but the coach can simply drive pass and stopped at the further halls and then U turn back in the end. The road was too small and the coach was too big to turn anywhere. Hence, we had many jams, many dead engines and more waiting to be done.

18:00 --> 21:00
We met the Hall warden and he was so tall! Oh my... He has to bend down while talking to me! That's pathetic. But nonetheless, we were shown to our temporary room which we had to lived for 3 days before shifting to our permanent room, which was occupied then. Unpacking was done minimally to avoid any hassle 3 days later.

21:00 --> 23:00
Realising that we had alot of necessities, eg. pillows, blanket cover... to buy, we rushed out to a 24hr hypermarket to do our shopping immediately. It takes half an hour to walk to the hypermarket and the road was dark and desserted. Feels the danger coming anytime... But it was just my paranoid over-skepticism. We had to buy alot of household items! Kettles, pillows, table lamp, pots, pans, washing powder, detergent, bath cream, blah blah blah... It's madness carrying them back at night on our two feets with the cold wind blowing at your face!

So this is my 24-hr (or more than that!) journey from leaving my SG house to settling down in my new hm in UK. TIRED x million times!
